The most success I've had using the baseball numbers are finding the team that is -110 or better and playing that team regardless of line value. I've also had success playing the total over or under when they agree with recent form.
This thing isn't a magic click and pick wizard, it's only a tool to start your handicapping with. If something works over time, play it, if not fade it. I just thought I'd share.
